The project of the 'Principles of Artificial Intelligence in Media' document, launched by the Saudi Media Forum in partnership with the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA), has received a certificate of appreciation in the media category of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Awards 2026, organized by the International Telecommunication Union in Geneva, after being selected among the global list of candidate projects in the media category, from projects and initiatives submitted by entities from various countries worldwide, in international recognition of the document's contribution to promoting responsible and reliable use of AI technologies in the media sector. The 'Principles of Artificial Intelligence in Media' document, announced by His Excellency the Minister of Media, Mr. Salman Al-Dosari, in his opening speech at the previous edition of the Saudi Media Forum, represents a national reference framework that guides the responsible use of AI technologies at various stages of the media work cycle, from data collection, content production and editing, through publishing and distribution, to measuring its impact and interaction, thereby contributing to raising the efficiency of media institutions, supporting innovation, enhancing content quality, and reducing risks associated with misinformation, synthetic content, and deepfake technologies. The President of the Saudi Media Forum, Mohammed bin Fahad Al-Harthi, explained that the document represents an important step in developing the uses of AI in media, and reflects the integration of efforts between the media ecosystem and SDAIA in building a safer and more reliable digital media environment, noting that the document helps media institutions adopt AI technologies within clear frameworks that stimulate innovation while maintaining professional and ethical standards, and contributes to enhancing public trust in media content. Al-Harthi added that this recognition reflects the Kingdom's leading position, with the support and follow-up of His Excellency the Minister of Media, in developing ethical and regulatory frameworks related to AI technologies, and its growing role in contributing to shaping a responsible digital media future that balances benefiting from the advanced capabilities of modern technologies and preserving content reliability, individual rights, and professional and human values.
