AI Principles in Media Project Wins International Recognition in Geneva
Global recognition of the Saudi document's role in promoting responsible use of AI in media.
The project of the 'AI Principles in Media' document, launched by the Saudi Media Forum in partnership with the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), received a certificate of appreciation in the media category of the World Summit on the Information Society 2026 Awards, organized by the International Telecommunication Union in Geneva.
The organizing committee stated that the project was selected to the global list of nominated projects in the media category, among initiatives submitted by entities from various countries worldwide, in international recognition of the document's contribution to promoting responsible and trustworthy use of AI technologies in the media sector.
A National Framework to Enhance Trust and Innovation
The document indicated that it represents a national reference framework guiding the responsible use of AI technologies across various stages of the media work cycle, from data collection, content production and editing, through publishing and distribution, to impact measurement and audience interaction.
It added that the document contributes to improving the efficiency of media institutions, supporting innovation, enhancing content quality, and reducing risks associated with misinformation, synthetic content, and deepfake technologies.
Developing a Safe Digital Media Environment
The Chairman of the Saudi Media Forum, Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Harthi, explained that the document represents an important step in developing the uses of AI in media, reflecting the integration of efforts between the media system and SDAIA in building a safer and more reliable digital media environment.
Al-Harthi pointed out that the document helps media institutions adopt AI technologies within clear frameworks that stimulate innovation while maintaining professional and ethical standards, and contributes to enhancing public trust in media content.
In the same context, Al-Harthi affirmed that this recognition reflects the Kingdom's pioneering position in developing ethical and regulatory frameworks related to AI technologies, and its growing role in shaping a responsible digital media future that balances the benefits of modern technologies with preserving content reliability, individual rights, and professional and human values.
