Geneva, July 11 (QNA) - Several key players in the music industry have launched an initiative to adopt two new classifications that distinguish music works produced using artificial intelligence: "AI-generated" for works where most of the creative content relies on AI, and "AI-assisted" for works that maintain a substantial human contribution while employing the technology in some elements.

The initiative, led by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), a global non-profit organization focused on the recorded music industry founded in 1933 and based in Switzerland, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and other partners, seeks to have these classifications adopted by music streaming platforms, distributors, and standards-setting bodies, in a move aimed at increasing transparency regarding AI-generated music content.
