Facebook and Instagram Hit by Technical Outage
Facebook and Instagram, both owned by Meta, experienced a widespread technical outage that affected users in several countries, preventing them from accessing their accounts.
The Facebook app on smartphones continued to operate without significant impact.
According to Downdetector, a website that monitors online service outages, the disruption began around 3:25 AM Eastern Time.
The site received thousands of reports of various issues accessing both platforms, with intermittent outages also recorded in some Asian countries.
Users reported difficulties logging in, trouble loading pages and posts, as well as problems uploading images and sending messages.
Reports confirmed that the Facebook app on smartphones continued to function without being noticeably affected by the outage.
Meta has not yet issued any official statement explaining the cause or scope of the technical issue, leaving users awaiting further updates on service restoration.
