FIS Adopts Mythos 5 Model to Strengthen Global Financial Infrastructure Security
FIS (a global financial technology company) announced its joining of Anthropic's Project Glasswing initiative, which aims to enable entities responsible for developing or managing critical software to access the most advanced AI models to enhance cybersecurity.
FIS explained in a press release on Friday (July 17) that it has started using the Mythos 5 model within its internal programs as an additional layer to protect its systems against cyber threats. The company said:
FIS operates systems for payment settlement, money transfer, and core banking services for thousands of institutions worldwide. Protecting those codes is paramount to the stability of the global financial infrastructure, so we apply security standards to our infrastructure with the same rigor we provide to our clients.
Project Glasswing was launched in April with the release of the first beta version of the Mythos model, aiming to make these technologies available as an "early defensive sentinel" for a select group of partners to enable them to examine critical cyber vulnerabilities in their software systems.
Previous reports indicated that some major banks that gained access to Mythos noted its superior ability to detect complex security vulnerabilities by understanding the cumulative relationship between vulnerabilities that appear "simple" individually.

By last May, Mythos had already detected more than 10,000 security vulnerabilities in "the world's most critical software" according to Anthropic, accelerating patching and protection processes.
After the launch of the fifth generation (Mythos 5) in June, the model quickly underwent automatic usage restrictions in response to U.S. government directives regarding "foreign entities." However, Anthropic has, since late June, received approval to reactivate partial access to the model, allocating it only to select groups of infrastructure defenders and sensitive service providers worldwide.
