Smartphone Comparison

A new report from Counterpoint shows that Huawei led the smartphone market in China in the second quarter of 2026, capturing the largest share of shipments surpassing all competitors, while Apple ranked second.

Huawei achieved a market share of 23% of shipments during the period, compared to 18% in the same period last year, benefiting from a flexible pricing strategy and rising demand for the Enjoy 90 Pro Max, which features a Kirin processor supporting 5G and a large 8500 mAh battery.

The launch of the Pura X Max also strengthened the company's position in the luxury foldable phone market.

The report noted that the Chinese market recorded a year-on-year decline of 2% in total smartphone sales, while Huawei recorded a year-on-year growth in shipments of 24%.

Experts explained that the company benefited from its diversified portfolio and balanced pricing to attract different user segments.

In contrast, Apple came in second with a market share of 18%, supported by stable prices of iPhones.

OPPO maintained third place with its share declining to 16%, while vivo dropped to fourth place with roughly the same share.

Xiaomi and Honor ranked fifth and sixth respectively.

The report mentioned that rising component and memory costs may drive a new wave of price increases in the market in the second half of 2026 as inventories with higher costs arrive.
