Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 8, which comes as the lightest foldable phone the company has ever offered, weighing 180 grams, eight grams lighter than the previous generation.

The device maintains a familiar design but adds improvements focused on performance and ease of use.

The phone is powered by the Exynos 2600 processor, claimed to be the world's first smartphone chip built on 2nm technology.

Samsung states that this processor delivers a 30% increase in CPU speed compared to the previous model, along with 50% better graphics performance.

The phone comes with 12GB of RAM and two storage options: 256GB or 512GB.

Samsung has kept the device's familiar dimensions, with a width of 75.4mm, a thickness of 13.1mm when folded and 6.1mm when unfolded, and dust and water resistance rated IP48.

The phone features a 4.1-inch external display with a resolution of 948x1048 pixels, supporting a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and brightness of up to 2600 nits. This screen allows access to a wider range of widgets and direct access to more notifications and system tools, thanks to FlexWindow support.

The internal display offers typical standards, measuring 6.9 inches, Dynamic AMOLED 2X, FHD+ resolution, variable refresh rate up to 120Hz, and the same brightness level as the external screen.

The rear camera features a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization, a 12MP ultrawide lens, while the front camera has a 10MP sensor.

All cameras support video recording up to 4K at 60fps with Super HDR.

This year, Samsung focuses on improving the camera software with features like Camcorder Grip, which allows holding the phone in a camcorder-like grip for zoom and shooting control, as well as Steady Shot with 360-degree horizon stabilization.

System and battery

The phone features a silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 4,300 mAh, but no increase in actual capacity compared to the previous generation, and supports 25W fast charging via USB-C.

The device runs One UI 9 based on Android 17, offering seven years of system updates and security patches, along with an expanded set of AI services such as Gemini AI integration and My FanCam feature, which allows isolating people in videos after recording and creating a customized version for them.

The phone supports modern connectivity technologies including 5G, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4, but lacks UWB support.
