The National Center of Meteorology forecast, on Friday, the continued impact of active winds raising dust and sand in parts of Najran, Eastern Province, Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, Madinah, and Makkah regions, which may lead to zero or near-zero horizontal visibility on the coastal road leading to Jazan.

The center's report stated that the chance remains for thunderstorms accompanied by active winds and hail showers in parts of Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha regions, and may extend to the southern parts of the highlands of Makkah region.

State of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf

The report indicated that surface wind movement on the Red Sea will be northwesterly to westerly at speeds of 15-30 km/h in the northern and central parts, and at speeds of 20-40 km/h possibly reaching 50 km/h with the formation of rainy thunderclouds in the southern part.

He added that wave height will range from half a meter to one and a half meters in the northern and central parts, and from one to two meters, possibly reaching more than two and a half meters with rainy thunderclouds in the southern part; the sea state will be light to moderate waves in the northern and central parts, and moderate possibly reaching rough with thunderclouds in the south.

In the same context, surface winds in the Arabian Gulf will be northwesterly to westerly at speeds of 15-32 km/h, with wave heights from half a meter to one and a half meters, and a sea state of light to moderate waves.
