Saturday's Weather: Thunderstorms, Hail and Active Winds in Several Regions
The National Center for Meteorology expects in its report on today's weather – God willing – the continuation of moderate to heavy thunderstorms accompanied by hail showers and active winds in parts of Jazan, Asir, Al Baha and Makkah regions, as well as in the southern parts of the Eastern Region. Meanwhile, the impact of active winds stirring dust and sand continues in parts of those areas, including the coastal road from Jeddah to Jazan, as well as in parts of Tabuk, Madinah, Riyadh and Najran regions. The weather remains hot during the daytime in parts of the Eastern Region, and fog formation is not ruled out during the night and early morning hours in parts of the Eastern Region. The report indicated that surface wind movement over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to westerly in the northern and central parts, and northwesterly to northerly at a speed of 15-40 km/h, reaching more than 50 km/h with rainy thunderclouds forming in the southern part. Wave height will be from one to two meters, reaching over two meters with rainy thunderclouds forming in the southern part, and the sea state will be moderate waves, becoming rough with rainy thunderclouds forming in the southern part. In the Arabian Gulf, surface winds will be southwesterly to westerly in the northern part and easterly to northeasterly in the central and southern parts at a speed of 12-25 km/h, wave height from half a meter to one meter, and the sea state will be light waves.
