Four Palestinians and an Israeli were killed on Friday in violence in the occupied northern West Bank, according to AFP.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that four Palestinians were killed and four others were injured, three of them seriously, from gunfire in the village of Tel.

The Israeli military said that Israeli civilians were targeted before Israeli forces returned fire at the attackers.

An Israeli aged about 30 was killed, and two others aged about 20 were wounded by gunfire and were evacuated by helicopter, one of them in critical condition, according to the Magen David Adom rescue service.

An AFP journalist reported that roadblocks were set up at the scene, and the Israeli military said it fired at the attackers as they fled.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed in a statement from his office that his government will act 'firmly against terrorists and their inciters.'

He said he would hold a meeting with security officials to 'discuss ways to respond to the deadly attack.'

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called on the army to act with an 'iron fist' against the 'village of murderers and its surroundings,' without providing further details.

Violence in the occupied West Bank has escalated since the war in Gaza broke out in October 2023.
