Iranian media reported that the attacks launched by the United States on several Iranian cities overnight Thursday-Friday resulted in 9 deaths and 20 injuries.

Iran's official news agency IRNA said the US attacks targeted facilities and infrastructure in several provinces, killing 8 people and injuring 20 others in Hormozgan province.

Meanwhile, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that one person was killed in the attack targeting the port area of the city of Chabahar.

Iranian authorities did not immediately issue an official statement on the casualty toll from the US attacks that occurred during the night.

Earlier on Friday, Iran's Health Ministry announced that the death toll from US attacks on the country during July had risen to 38, while the number of injured exceeded 400.

On June 18, 2026, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding that included a ceasefire and began negotiations mediated by Pakistan and Qatar to end the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28 of the same year.

However, US President Donald Trump announced on July 8, 2026, the end of the ceasefire amid renewed escalation, after Iran the previous day attacked 3 ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, claiming they had not adhered to the navigation course it had set, prompting Washington to respond by launching attacks on sites inside Iran.

Washington supports the passage of commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz on a route different from that set by Iran, which Tehran rejects, asserting that it targets any ship that does not coordinate with it before crossing the strategic strait for global energy supplies.
