Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch stated on Thursday that the Joint High Commission for Cooperation represents a mechanism to implement the "exceptional partnership" between his country and France.

This came during talks he held in Rabat with French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu on the sidelines of the 15th session of the Joint High Commission for Cooperation on Wednesday and Thursday, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's office.

Akhannouch said the High Commission for Cooperation represents "a governmental mechanism to monitor and lead the implementation of the strong exceptional partnership" between the two countries.

He added that the meeting is an opportunity to assess progress in implementing commitments between the two countries and to identify new projects that chart the prospects for the next phase of bilateral relations.

He continued that the current session is of particular importance given the new dynamic in relations between Rabat and Paris.

He explained that this dynamic was launched by a joint initiative of Moroccan King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron during the latter's visit to the Kingdom in October 2024.

The visit culminated in the signing of the "Declaration of the Strong Exceptional Partnership" between the two countries.

Since Macron's visit to Morocco, reciprocal visits between officials from both countries have continued, punctuated by the signing of cooperation agreements in various sectors.
