Jassem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), expressed his strong condemnation and denunciation of Iran's targeting of the Saudi tanker 'Wadiyan' while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the Qatari tanker 'Al-Rakiyat', stressing that this constitutes a dangerous escalation threatening the security and stability of the region.

He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and take a firm and deterrent stance against these repeated Iranian aggressions, in order to preserve regional and international security and peace, and prevent the recurrence of such hostile acts that threaten the stability of the region.

The Secretary-General stressed the full solidarity of the GCC states with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar, and their support for all measures being taken to protect and safeguard their national interests.

Kingdom Condemns Targeting of Two Tankers

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's strong condemnation of the Islamic Republic of Iran's targeting of the Saudi tanker 'Wadiyan' while crossing the Strait of Hormuz, and the targeting of the Qatari tanker 'Al-Rakiyat', affirming that these unacceptable aggressions constitute an attack on the security and safety of international navigation and on the security of global energy supplies.

In a statement, the ministry said: "The Kingdom affirms that Iran's continued perpetration of these aggressions is a grave violation of international law and norms, and of Security Council Resolution 2817, which guarantees freedom of maritime navigation and safe passage through sea lanes. It stresses its demand that Iran immediately cease everything that threatens the security of the region and the safety of international navigation and energy supplies, and confirms that Iran bears full responsibility for these aggressions and all their damages and repercussions."
