The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday the discovery of the remains of a missing soldier and the death of another soldier in northern Iraq on Saturday.

In a statement on its X account, CENTCOM said: 'Yesterday, the deaths of two US service members were announced, and one missing in Jordan, following an Iranian attack on Friday. After an extensive search, US Army forces found unidentified remains at the site earlier today,' adding that an examination process is underway to verify these remains.

It also noted that in a separate incident, a US service member was killed in northern Iraq on Saturday during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone. A second service member was wounded and continues to receive medical treatment for a minor injury.

CENTCOM stated: 'CENTCOM is withholding additional information, including the identities of the missing and fallen service members, out of respect for the families during the notification process.'

On another note, Iranian state TV reported that Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni will begin a visit to the Pakistani capital Islamabad on Monday to meet with Pakistani officials, according to Iranian state TV. The visit is likely aimed at reviving Pakistani efforts to de-escalate tensions.

Iranian state TV said a US missile hit an area on the outskirts of the city of Abadan in Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran. The TV quoted the deputy governor of Khuzestan as saying the missile fell outside the city's urban limits, with no casualties.
