Iranian media reported hearing explosions in several parts of the country, following the US announcement of attacks on Iran, while the Iranian army announced targeting what it said were US military facilities in Kuwait.

State television reported that several Iranian cities and ports were attacked following the US announcement last night.

It said explosions occurred near a military area south of Tabriz, and in the cities of Mahshahr and Behbahan in Khuzestan province.

It also reported hearing 4 explosions in the city of Chabahar in Sistan and Baluchestan province in the southeast.

It added that US fighter jets flew in the area, and an explosion was heard in the city of Konarak in the same province.

The Fars news agency reported that US missile and air attacks targeted the city of Sirik in Hormozgan province, two areas near Bushehr, and the city of Kangavar in Kermanshah province in the west.

The agency added that air defense systems were activated east of the capital Tehran following reports of an attack on the area.

It also reported that the US launched two airstrikes on the cities of Baneh in Kurdistan province and Kabudrahang in Hamadan province in western Iran.

Quoting Baneh's deputy governor Mohammad Rezaei, it said US forces launched an air attack on the city.

No official data on human or material losses from the attacks have been released yet.

Earlier, Iranian media reports said explosions were heard in areas of Khuzestan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Hormozgan, Bushehr, Kermanshah, Hamadan, and Kurdistan provinces, in addition to Tabriz city.

** Attack on Kuwait

For its part, the Iranian army announced targeting what it said were ammunition depots and logistics facilities of the US Army's command at the Al-Doha military base in western Kuwait with drones.

The army said in a statement that the attack was carried out in response to the US attacks on Iranian territory.
