Iran's state television reported that the United States launched an attack targeting an industrial zone in the city of Khomein in Markazi province, central Iran.

The television said the attack took place on Monday evening at 19:00 local time (UTC+3:30).

Markazi province, for its part, announced that there were no casualties from the attack.

It added that investigations are ongoing to assess material damages.

On July 8, US President Donald Trump announced the end of the ceasefire contained in the memorandum of understanding signed with Tehran on June 18 last, which included lifting the naval blockade on Iran.

This announcement came after Iran targeted three commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, as Tehran affirms its pursuit of imposing a mechanism to regulate the passage of ships through the strait, while Washington demands ensuring freedom of navigation and its security.

The escalation has disrupted navigation in the strait, threatened energy supplies and air traffic, amid intermittent closures of airspace, and warnings of targeting US facilities and interests outside the Middle East region.
