The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry summoned the Iranian ambassador to Kuwait on Tuesday, handing him a protest note over Iran's targeting of the Kuwaiti tanker 'Kivan' on Monday evening while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in injuries to a number of its crew members.

Ambassador Hamad Suleiman Al-Mashaan, Kuwait's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that this blatant aggression comes amid the escalating sinful aggression launched by Iran against the State of Kuwait since February 28, 2026, including inflammatory and provocative statements from the Iranian side, and constitutes a flagrant violation of Kuwait's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and interests, a threat to the safety and freedom of international navigation, and a breach of international law, the United Nations Charter, and Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026.

He reiterated Kuwait's demand for Iran to immediately cease its unlawful attacks, stressing that Kuwait reserves the right to take necessary measures, and holding Iran fully responsible for this assault and its ongoing aggression against the State of Kuwait.
