Iranian Atomic Energy Organization Denounces US Targeting of Darkhovin Nuclear Plant
Mehr News Agency reported that the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization denounced an American attack on the site of the under-construction Darkhovin nuclear plant, pointing out that the strike violates international law.
According to the agency today, the organization did not specify when the strike targeting the plant, located in Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran and whose construction began in 2022, occurred.
The organization had stated in an earlier statement that "the terrorist and criminal American system, which knows only a policy of arrogance and violation of laws, committed a brutal and internationally illegal aggression early Sunday, July 19, at 03:39 local time, targeting the site of the under-construction Darkhovin nuclear plant with a number of projectiles."
The statement added that the Darkhovin plant is "one of the symbols of pride and scientific self-sufficiency of the Iranian people," stressing that this aggression will not deter Iran from continuing its path in developing its peaceful nuclear program.
