German police in the capital Berlin used force on Tuesday to disperse activists protesting against the company Rheinmetall, accusing it of supplying Israel with ammunition it produces.

More than 30 activists, supported by the group 'Peaceful Struggle Against Genocide,' organized a protest vigil near a facility belonging to Rheinmetall in the Wedding district of Berlin.

When the pro-Palestinian protesters attempted to stage a sit-in on the street, police intervened to forcefully disperse them and force them to move to the sidewalk, before handcuffing a number of them behind their backs.

Police also imposed strict security measures in front of the facility and detained several activists.

On the opposite side of the street, another group organized a protest vigil in which Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg participated.

Protesters chanted slogans including 'Freedom for Palestine,' 'Freedom for Gaza,' 'Your weapons kill children,' and 'Your weapons and money commit murders around the world.'

Recent months have seen repeated protests in front of the Rheinmetall facility in Berlin's Wedding district, against the backdrop of accusations that the company produces ammunition for Israel. On July 11, a march with thousands of participants protested against the company's activities.
