Dutch officials reported that authorities in The Hague evacuated residents of dozens of homes on Saturday after discovering an illegal drug manufacturing lab in their neighborhood.

This is the second time in 24 hours that residents of the neighborhood have been asked to leave their homes because of this lab, which had barrels stored outside containing hundreds of liters of hazardous chemicals.

Police investigations at the site led to the arrest of at least four men aged between 34 and 71.

Evacuation of residents.

Several Dutch media outlets reported that around 150 residents were asked to evacuate their homes, while specialized teams safely removed the materials and dismantled the lab's internal equipment.

The newspaper De Volkskrant noted that the lab was apparently used to manufacture ecstasy and other drugs from MDMA. A police spokesperson told AFP: "It is not usual to see such a facility in a residential neighborhood."

Transfer of hazardous materials.

The local council reported that the hazardous materials had been transported and 'disposed of,' while simultaneously warning of the possibility of hazardous substances leaking during the operation. The council also indicated its expectation that residents would be allowed to return to their homes late Saturday night.
