Former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe (Boogie) Ya'alon on Thursday called for removing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's 'corrupt' government in the elections scheduled for October 27, and deemed it necessary 'to save the country from ruin.'

Ya'alon said in a post on the American platform 'X' that the phone call in which US President Donald Trump harshly attacked Netanyahu represented a 'strategic turning point' in US-Israel relations.

He added that the nature of the conversation between Trump and Netanyahu reflects, in his assessment, the US president's deep frustration with his country's involvement in Iran.

Ya'alon considered that this involvement harms Trump's standing and America's strategic and economic interests, negatively affects the Republican Party ahead of the midterm elections, and costs American soldiers lives.

He said Israel is 'currently paying the price of anger and frustration' in Washington, due to a lack of strategic coordination between the two countries' leaderships regarding moves in Iran.

Ya'alon pointed to the signing of a civilian nuclear cooperation agreement between the US and Saudi Arabia 'without consulting Israel or considering its interests, and without linking it to normalization of relations between Riyadh and Tel Aviv,' according to him.

On Wednesday, the US Energy Department announced the signing of a 'historic' agreement for peaceful nuclear cooperation between the US and Saudi Arabia, before Trump on Thursday linked the completion of the agreement to Riyadh's joining the 'Abraham Accords' for normalization with Tel Aviv.

Ya'alon also said that Trump is 'insistent on supplying Turkey with F-35 fighter jets without considering Israeli interests.'

Trump had said from Ankara during his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier this month that his country would consider the possibility of selling Turkey F-35 fighter jets.

Ya'alon added that successive Israeli governments viewed relations with Washington as the cornerstone of national security, noting that the Netanyahu government 'prioritizes its survival in power at the expense of the country's interests,' as he put it.

Ya'alon concluded his post by saying: 'On October 27, they must be removed to save the country from ruin.'

According to the latest poll published by the Hebrew newspaper 'Maariv' on Friday, the opposition bloc leads Netanyahu's far-right bloc, as it could form a government by winning 62 seats in the Knesset, compared to 48 seats for Netanyahu's bloc, if general elections were held.

The upcoming elections are scheduled to be the first since 1988 to be held on their constitutional date, after the current Knesset completes its full four-year term.

The current Knesset is the 25th since the establishment of Israel in 1948 on Palestinian lands occupied by armed Zionist gangs that committed massacres and displaced at least 750,000 Palestinians.

Later, Israel occupied the rest of the Palestinian territories and still refuses to withdraw from them and establish a Palestinian state, despite relevant UN resolutions.
