UN Secretary-General António Guterres discussed with Jassim Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the latest developments in the region and their impact on security, stability, and the regional and international economy.

This took place during Guterres' reception of Al-Budaiwi on the sidelines of the high-level open debate of the United Nations Security Council in New York City, USA, on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the UN Secretary-General expressed renewed solidarity with the Gulf states against Iranian aggressions and stressed the importance of halting these attacks that threaten security and stability.

Al-Budaiwi said that the treacherous Iranian attacks against the Gulf states and their systematic targeting of infrastructure confirm Tehran's desire to destabilize security and stability and undermine peace efforts.

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council stressed the importance of putting an end to these attacks and deterring Iran from continuing its aggressive policies in order to preserve international peace and security.
