Guterres and Al-Budaiwi Discuss Latest Developments in the Region

UN Secretary-General António Guterres received today His Excellency Mr. Jassem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, on the sidelines of his participation in the high-level open debate of the United Nations Security Council in New York.

During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in the region and their impact on regional and international security, stability, and economy, and exchanged views on a number of regional issues and efforts being made towards them, in addition to ways to enhance cooperation relations between the GCC and the United Nations. Al-Budaiwi stressed that Iranian attacks against GCC states and their systematic targeting of infrastructure confirm Iran's desire to destabilize security and stability and undermine peace efforts, and the importance of putting an end to these attacks and deterring Iran from continuing its aggressive policies in order to preserve international peace and security.

For his part, the UN Secretary-General reiterated his solidarity with the GCC states against Iranian attacks, stressing the importance of stopping these attacks that threaten security and stability.
