The spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, on Tuesday issued a clear warning to Bulgaria against allowing the United States to use its territory for military operations against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Iranian warning came after the Bulgarian government announced its intention to seek parliamentary approval to deploy up to 8 US refueling aircraft at the Bezmer military base, located about 260 kilometers southeast of the capital Sofia. It should be noted that Bulgaria is a member of NATO and the European Union.

Iranian official media quoted Baghaei as saying that any activity that facilitates US attacks on Iran would be considered complicity in what he described as 'aggression and war crimes', urging Bulgaria not to become a 'partner of the aggressors and violators of international law'.

It should be noted that refueling aircraft are primarily used to provide fuel to other aircraft in mid-air, enhancing long-distance flight capabilities without the need to land.

These developments come amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, as the United States and Iran have intensified their military operations following the collapse of a temporary ceasefire agreement signed last month, increasing the likelihood of a return to full-scale military confrontation.
