The Israeli Broadcasting Authority said Sunday that the general elections for the Knesset (parliament) will be held on October 27, without advancing their date.

The official broadcaster added that the official announcement came during a meeting of the Knesset committee held Sunday, where the government confirmed that the elections will be held on their scheduled date of October 27.

Meanwhile, Acting Director General of the Election Committee, Dan Levine, said the committee is considering conducting vote counting in a live broadcast to increase transparency, according to the broadcaster.

Levine pointed to concerns about attempts to cast doubt on the election results, without accusing any specific party.

He affirmed that Israel 'faces threats from external and internal parties (unnamed) seeking to undermine democracy in the country,' according to his words.
