New York City Mayor Zahran Mamdani said in a new video Tuesday that he does not have the legal authority to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he comes to New York City.

Mamdani said in a video posted on platform X: 'My administration has reviewed all available avenues under current law to determine whether New York City could execute the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court if Benjamin Netanyahu comes here. Clearly, we do not have the independent legal authority to enforce this warrant. However, the federal government has that authority, and I call on it to join the International Criminal Court and execute the warrant.'

This video comes just days after Mamdani told The New York Times that he is working with his administration's legal team on how to carry out Netanyahu's arrest on charges of 'alleged war crimes,' according to CNN.

US President Donald Trump commented on the controversy on his platform Truth Social on Monday, saying that Netanyahu 'will not be arrested, in any way or form.'
