U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said that some members of the Israeli government tried to influence American public opinion to oppose an agreement reached by the United States to end the war with Iran.

These remarks recall previous criticisms by Vance, whom many consider a potential future presidential candidate, of the policies pursued by the Israeli government amid growing public disagreement between the two sides, according to Asharq news website.

In a radio interview, Vance defended the agreement reached last month to end the war with Iran, despite criticism in the United States and Israel for failing to curb Iran's missile program or provide a clear path to dismantling Iran's nuclear facilities, as well as imposing restrictions on Israel in its war against Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon.

Vance said: "I know for a fact that there were people within the Israeli government who were actually trying to push us away from this policy because they wanted to continue the military campaign."
