The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reported on Friday that he will meet US President Donald Trump at the White House next Tuesday.

According to AFP, the office said: 'As part of the visit, the prime minister will meet President Trump at the White House on Tuesday and will attend the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham, a friend of Israel,' noting that he will depart for Washington on Monday.

Graham died this month at the age of 71 after what his office described as a 'brief and sudden illness.' The Republican senator was known for his pro-Israel stance and his close relationship with Netanyahu.

Netanyahu mourned Graham, saying: 'Sara (Netanyahu's wife) and I share the pain with the American people over the loss of our dear friend, Senator Lindsey Graham.'

He added: 'In our last meeting, I said that Lindsey is a great friend of Israel and a dear friend of mine, and we have no better friend than him.'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu used the opportunity of attending the funeral of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham to reiterate his request to meet US President Donald Trump.

The meeting will be the sixth between Netanyahu and Trump since the latter returned to the White House last year. The two men share a close relationship, and Netanyahu has described Trump as 'the greatest friend of Israel in the White House.'

The Israeli prime minister's visit comes amid rising tensions between the two sides over the course of the war with Iran.

The relationship between Trump and Netanyahu has deteriorated recently following the US reaching a memorandum of understanding with Iran.

Israeli and American media reported that Netanyahu has been seeking a meeting with Trump for weeks, fueling speculation about differences between the two.

Netanyahu's visit to the White House comes a few days after the US president received his Lebanese counterpart Joseph Aoun as part of American efforts to cement the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah and disarm the Iran-backed group.

The meeting with Aoun focused on Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon, which Lebanese authorities demand, in the context of implementing the framework agreement reached with Israel under Washington's auspices.

Trump is expected to address the Lebanese file with Netanyahu, as well as the course of the war against Tehran, which erupted with US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28.

Netanyahu's visit also comes nine months after Trump visited Jerusalem in October 2025, where he met with the Israeli prime minister as part of negotiations that led to a ceasefire in Gaza.
