Trump: I Left Instructions to Bomb Iran If They Succeed in Assassinating Me
US President Donald Trump said on Friday, in response to a question about recent reports that Israel indicated this week an Iranian plot to assassinate the US president, Trump indicated there was no new plan from Iran, but he said Tehran has wanted him dead for years, noting that he left instructions to bomb Iran on unprecedented levels if they succeed in assassinating him, warning that 'there will be a heavy price to pay.'
Trump added in remarks reported by the New York Post: 'I’ve been on their list for a long time... that's what we're facing (...) The only thing is that I left instructions - in case anything happens - to bomb them literally at levels they have never seen before and there will be a heavy price.'
Informed sources revealed to CNN that Israel informed Washington this week of intelligence information indicating a new and specific Iranian plot to assassinate Trump.
The US network saw that this development may be among the factors that contributed to Washington's decision to resume strikes against Iran.
The sources indicated that the United States was already tracking ongoing intelligence information about potential threats, but the recent Israeli warning included new details about a specific plot.
A US official told CNN: 'The United States remains committed to finding a solution, and technical talks are ongoing.'
