Trump: We will deliver powerful strikes to Iran on Monday and Tuesday evening
US President Donald Trump announced that reaching an agreement with Tehran to end the war is still "possible" despite new US strikes on Iran and the reimposition of a blockade on Iranian ports.
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office: "Yes, I think an agreement is possible. I certainly think so," adding: "We reached an agreement with them two days ago, then they said: we cannot conclude this agreement. We must continue negotiating over it."
He also added that Washington is launching "another major attack tonight," explaining: "We are destroying Iran's offensive capabilities."
"Heavy losses"
This came as the US military announced it had launched a new round of attacks against Iran for the third consecutive night.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on X that "these strikes will continue to inflict heavy losses on Iranian forces and degrade their ability to attack innocent civilians and commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz," noting that the strikes began at 4:45 p.m. (20:45 GMT).

"Powerful strikes"
Shortly before that, Trump announced that Washington would deliver powerful strikes to Iran on Monday and Tuesday evening.
In a phone interview with "The Hugh Hewitt Show" on Monday, he stated: "We will hit them very hard tonight and we will hit them hard tomorrow. And there's nothing they can do about it."
"Washington will prevail"
He also added that "military operations may continue from two to three weeks," stressing that Washington will prevail either through negotiations or a military solution.
He further stated that "the memorandum of understanding with Iran was a test and they did not respect it," but he noted that he cannot say whether the ceasefire has ended.
"We will destroy Peacock's Mountain"
Trump also repeated that "Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon," and continued: "If the Iranians had a nuclear weapon, they would have used it within one day."
Meanwhile, he revealed that the United States will destroy the "Peacock's Mountain" nuclear site in Iran, saying: "We will destroy Peacock's Mountain. Tell the Iranians to be ready."
He also added: "We are monitoring (Peacock's Mountain) closely. We see no activity there. They are not doing well in their nuclear posture. Every time we hear about it, we blow it up. So they don't like to talk about it. But we will probably give Peacock's a strike relatively soon."
The "Peacock's Mountain" site is located near Iran's Natanz uranium enrichment facility, which has suffered severe damage, and is a heavily fortified site containing two tunnel complexes buried at great depth, according to Reuters.
"We removed 25% of the Iranian system"
Trump went on to say that "Iran has no air force, no navy, almost nothing."
He continued: "We have eliminated the first and second tiers and removed 25% of the Iranian system."
These remarks come after Trump announced earlier on Monday that the United States would reimpose the naval blockade on Iran and would ensure the Strait of Hormuz remains open but for a fee, following more exchanges of missile and drone attacks between the two sides in recent days.
