The death toll in Venezuela rose to 5,119 people due to the double earthquake that struck the country on June 24.

This came according to the President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodriguez, in a post he published on the American platform "X" on Saturday, regarding the latest developments of the disaster that struck the country.

Rodriguez explained that the number of deaths increased by 50 to reach 5,119, while the number of injured reached 16,740 people.

The last earthquake toll announced by Venezuelan authorities on Friday evening was 5,069 dead.

On June 24, a double earthquake struck Venezuela, the first with a magnitude of 7.2 and the second with a magnitude of 7.5 on the Richter scale.

The United Nations Development Program announced on June 26 that the cost of direct material damage is estimated at approximately $6.7 billion.

Search and rescue operations continue in the country amid fears of a continued rise in the number of dead and wounded.
