The US military on Saturday denied Iranian accusations of targeting civilian infrastructure during the recent airstrikes, stressing that its operations focused on facilities used by the Revolutionary Guards to threaten regional navigation.

Iranian media had reported that the US strikes hit electricity and water desalination plants, bridges, and roads in the south of the country.

The dispute comes as the US air campaign enters its seventh consecutive night, with growing disagreement between Washington and Tehran over the nature of the targets struck inside Iran, and whether they are limited to military installations or have extended to vital facilities providing civilian services.

The US military stated that reports about targeting civilian infrastructure are 'incorrect', emphasizing that the strikes targeted facilities used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in operations targeting navigation in the Gulf.

It added in remarks carried by ABC News that Iran is the one endangering civilians by targeting sailors and commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that US operations focus on undermining the military and logistical capabilities used by the Revolutionary Guards.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) had announced that its recent airstrikes targeted surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons warehouses, and naval capabilities, using fighter jets, drones, and warships.

In contrast, Iranian media reported that the US strikes went beyond military targets, as Mehr news agency said that several missiles hit electricity facilities and pumps of water desalination plants at the dock of the village of Bounji in Jask city in Hormozgan province, causing water cuts to several coastal villages.

Tasnim news agency reported that the raids damaged two bridges on the road linking Bandar Abbas and Rudan, and resulted in deaths and injuries, according to the Iranian account.

The city of Jask has become the focal point of the dispute between the two narratives, as it houses naval facilities and logistical installations near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, along with water desalination plants on which the local population depends.

Iranian authorities say the strikes hit electricity and desalination facilities and killed three people and wounded eight in Hormozgan province, while Washington insists that all the targets attacked are linked to the military infrastructure used by the Revolutionary Guards to support its operations in the Gulf.
