The Saudi Ports Authority approved an adjustment to storage fees for transit goods at Jeddah Islamic Port for a period of sixty days, aiming to support the flow of supply chains and maintain operational and logistical efficiency.

The authority issued a circular to all shipping agents, terminal operators, and operating companies to apply the new fees starting July 19, 2026.

Dangerous goods The circular clarified that standard transit containers, flat racks, and trailers for dangerous goods are exempt from storage fees for the first fifteen days from the date of discharge from the vessel, noting that fees from the sixteenth to the thirtieth day will be 12 riyals per 20-foot container and 24 riyals per 40-foot container. The new regulation indicated a progressive increase in fees, reaching from the forty-first to the fiftieth day 150 riyals for the small container and 300 riyals for the large one. It pointed out that the cost will be 200 riyals for a 20-foot container and 400 riyals for a 40-foot container when the storage period reaches 51 days or more.

Transit goods Regarding general transit goods and Ro-Ro vehicles, the authority set an exemption period of only five days. It added that 10 riyals per ton will be charged for each additional storage day starting from the sixth day. The authority revealed the application of fees of 10 riyals per ton for bulk transit goods from the first day of discharge, confirming that these fees are calculated from the time of cargo discharge until its actual exit from the port according to the approved timestamp of the operational systems.

Authority's powers These amendments are based on the Port Services Fees and Charges Regulations, and the regulatory and supervisory powers vested in the authority by virtue of Council of Ministers decisions. They also align with the regulatory framework for calculating and collecting fees, and circulars reducing the previous exemption period to support operational workflow in Saudi ports.
