Ministry of Commerce and Industry imposes definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of electric batteries
Doha, July 09 (QNA) - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced the imposition of definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of electric accumulators (batteries) originating from or exported from the People's Republic of China and Malaysia, pursuant to Decision No. (48) of 2026.
The Ministry confirmed in a post on 'X' today that the decision aims to combat dumping practices on imports of the electric accumulators covered by the decision, support the competitiveness of national products, combat harmful practices against them in international trade, in addition to applying the measures approved by the Industrial Cooperation Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) regarding the imposition of definitive anti-dumping duties on the covered imports, as well as regulating imports of electric accumulators originating from or exported from the People's Republic of China and Malaysia, according to the tariff heading and Harmonized System code specified in the decision.
The Ministry indicated that the decision applies to products listed under tariff heading 8507 and Harmonized System code 85071000 of the Integrated Customs Tariff of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
The Ministry explained that the rates of the imposed duties were determined according to the dumping margin for each producer or exporter from the People's Republic of China and Malaysia, noting that the duty rates range from 25.8 percent to 74 percent on imports from China, and from 43.2 percent to 77 percent on imports from Malaysia.
