A groundbreaking medical success brings hope to a patient who endured years of non-healing forearm fracture

The medical team at the Orthopedic and Spine Surgery Center at King Saud Medical City achieved a remarkable medical success by ending the suffering of a patient that lasted for years, due to non-union of a complex fracture of the forearm bone, despite undergoing eight previous surgeries in repeated treatment attempts.

The medical team was led by Dr. Bandar Sahli, consultant orthopedic and upper limb surgeon, who dealt with a case considered one of the complex surgical cases, due to a bone loss estimated at about 8 centimeters at the fracture site, which required a highly precise specialized intervention to reconstruct the bone and restore its function.

The team performed an advanced operation that included a bone graft using a part of the patient's fibula, to compensate for the bone loss and stimulate fracture healing, along with fixation of the bone using a plate and screws according to the latest surgical practices. The operation was crowned with success, praise be to God, which contributed to ending the patient's suffering, achieving stability of the fracture site, enhancing the chances of restoring function of the affected limb, and improving her quality of life after a long therapeutic journey.
