King Abdulaziz Public Library: A Role in Enriching the Cultural Landscape

King Abdulaziz Public Library continues to offer its diverse cultural and knowledge programs to root cultural awareness in the Kingdom, enhance various cultural elements linking heritage and modernity, and present the Kingdom's cultural identity through its activities and programs that promote the presence of national, Arab, Islamic, and global culture in general.

The Library offers a package of specialized programs and activities aimed at enriching the cultural landscape by activating strategic partnerships with leading national institutions and organizing events that combine arts, heritage, community culture, and knowledge.

As part of enhancing historical research and documenting national memory, the Library organized a discussion session on: (Institutional Historical Narration: Transforming Events into a National Story) hosted by writer and translator Bandar Al-Harbi, Head of Publishing and Reports at the Ministry of Energy, in a meeting moderated by Iman Saad Al-Ghamdi, Head of Auditing and Sources at Saudipedia. The meeting discussed the importance of documenting institutional history as a fundamental pillar for preserving national identity, explored mechanisms for turning historical archives into inspiring stories, and examined modern methods used to present national achievements through a historical narrative connecting the past to future accomplishments.

The Library also organized a cultural meeting titled 'Papers of a Spokesperson,' hosted by Fahd Al-Qathami, where he discussed experiences in strategic communication issues, the impact of speech on shaping public opinion, and the importance of reading in supporting the personality of media professionals.

The Library activated its partnership with the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Warth) by offering a series of specialized workshops in traditional crafts, aimed at empowering talented individuals and transferring authentic craft expertise, ensuring the sustainability of Saudi folk heritage and presenting it in a modern format.

The Library also organized an interactive workshop as part of its partnership with the King Salman Social Center on: (Introduction to Mindfulness) presented by Dr. Noura Al-Mohanna, focusing on promoting psychological balance and mental focus as part of quality of life.

In the context of deepening heritage awareness, the Library presented an artistic workshop titled: (Camels in the Artwork between Abstraction and Realism) presented by visual artist Omar Al-Rashid. The workshop coincided with the celebration of World Camel Day, emphasizing the status of camels in Arab sentiment and Saudi cultural heritage. The workshop allowed participants to explore the visual aesthetics of camels from the perspective of artistic inspiration, in addition to training in expressive drawing techniques, highlighting the role of arts in embodying folk heritage and pride in national identity.

The Children's Literature Department at King Abdulaziz Public Library continues to implement its cultural vision of developing content for children and young adults by launching a series of specialized publications in 2026, in line with the Ministry of Culture's directions for the Year of Artificial Intelligence, and keeping pace with the interests and knowledge aspirations of new generations. Soon to be released is the young adult novel 'The Mystery,' set in a futuristic smart city, offering a narrative experience exploring the impact of modern technologies and artificial intelligence on human life in an engaging style aimed at developing young people's imagination, enhancing their intellectual curiosity, and encouraging thinking and creativity.

The events come within the objectives of King Abdulaziz Public Library to enhance cultural interaction, emphasize the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, and open up to various cultural partnerships that support the Library's strategy to be an integrated knowledge center for enhancing human skills and celebrating national cultural values.
