Iraqi security sources told Reuters on Monday that a booby-trapped drone was shot down near the Harir air base in Iraq, which hosts U.S. forces.

No information or reports have been received about any casualties or damage from the incident, and the relevant authorities have not yet issued clarifications.

The Harir base hosts U.S. forces and is located east of the city of Erbil in the Iraqi Kurdistan region. It is known as the closest base housing U.S. air forces to Iran.

The base is continuously subjected to drone attacks carried out by Iran and armed militia groups loyal to it in Iraq.

The three provinces of the Iraqi Kurdistan region—Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, and Dohuk—witnessed a series of drone and rocket attacks on Sunday amid Iran's escalation against U.S. interests and civilian targets in the region.

Iranian media had previously spoken in recent weeks about Iranian strikes targeting the Harir base, the same thing that has been repeated since the start of the current war.
