The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced early Wednesday that its forces had completed the 11th wave of attacks on Iran.

CENTCOM said in a statement on the US platform X that its forces completed the 11th consecutive wave of military strikes against targets in Iran on Tuesday evening.

It added that the strikes targeted military operation centers, naval capabilities, aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities, and military logistics infrastructure.

For about two weeks, Tehran has been launching attacks on what it says are US military facilities and equipment in Arab countries, particularly Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, in response to the daily US bombing that Iran is subjected to.

CENTCOM claimed that the main goal of the attacks is to 'undermine Iran's ability to threaten commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.'

It said that over the past three months, Iran has attacked more than 30 commercial ships transiting the vital international waterway.

Despite the escalation, CENTCOM claimed that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial ships, and that US forces have since early May helped facilitate the transit of about 900 commercial vessels and 450 million barrels of crude oil through the strait.

US President Donald Trump announced on July 8 the end of the ceasefire stipulated in the memorandum of understanding signed with Iran on June 18.

Trump's announcement came after Iran targeted three commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, as Tehran insists on imposing a mechanism to regulate ship passage through the strategic waterway off its coast, while Washington demands 'guaranteeing freedom of navigation in the strait.'

The escalation has disrupted navigation through the strait and threatened aviation and energy supplies, amid intermittent airspace closures and warnings of targeting US facilities and interests outside the Middle East.
