(CNN)-- The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Wednesday via a social media post that the US military has concluded the eleventh consecutive night of strikes against Iran.

CENTCOM said in a post on X (formerly Twitter): "Our forces targeted Iranian military operations centers, naval capabilities, hangars, drone storage facilities, and military logistics infrastructure, aimed at undermining Iran's ability to threaten commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz."

No additional details were provided on the number of targets.

The statement added that "Iran has attacked more than 30 commercial vessels transiting the strait over the past three months, and since the beginning of May, CENTCOM has helped facilitate the passage of nearly 900 commercial vessels and 450 million barrels of crude oil."

In contrast, official Iranian media reported the activation of air defenses in the capital, Tehran, early Wednesday.

Iran's Tasnim news agency reported that "air defenses in Tehran were activated again a few minutes ago in the eastern and western areas of Greater Tehran, and they appear to be engaging hostile targets."

Local authorities, citing Iran's state broadcasting, also reported that the city of Tabriz in northwestern Iran was also hit by strikes.

According to official media, explosions were heard in the cities of Mahshahr and Sirik (near the Strait of Hormuz) and Bushehr (on the Gulf).

Khuzestan Deputy Governor Valiollah Hayati, citing the official IRNA news agency, said areas near the cities of Behbahan and Omidiyeh in the western province were targeted.

IRNA also reported, citing officials, that the coastal cities of Konarak and Chabahar were also attacked.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that the latest wave of attacks it is carrying out "to punish the United States" is still ongoing, after starting in the early morning hours local time.
