According to a statement by the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces, the interception was carried out on Friday morning in accordance with operational procedures and approved defensive measures, ensuring the protection of the Kingdom's sovereignty, securing its airspace, and the safety of citizens. The military source explained that Royal Engineering Corps teams began their work at the sites where missile fragments fell, dealt with them, and secured them according to applicable technical and security procedures. The Jordanian army affirmed that it continues to monitor Jordan's airspace with the highest level of readiness and preparedness to deal with any potential threat, calling on citizens to obtain information from official sources and avoid spreading rumors. Widespread escalation The Jordanian announcement comes at a time when the region is witnessing a widespread escalation, after Iran announced it had launched new attacks targeting American facilities and bases in the Gulf, following the sixth night of continuous American strikes on military targets inside Iran. In the same context, Kuwait announced the interception of hostile missiles and drones, while Bahrain confirmed it had destroyed Iranian aerial targets in its airspace, and Qatar announced that its armed forces had repelled an Iranian missile attack, while the Qatari Interior Ministry reported that a child was injured by shrapnel resulting from interception operations. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the latest strikes targeted dozens of Iranian military sites, including coastal surveillance facilities, air defenses, logistical infrastructure, and naval capabilities near Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island. In response, Iranian media announced that the Revolutionary Guard had targeted American bases and facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait, and also said it attacked an American command center at the Al-Tanf base in eastern Syria, claims that could not be independently verified. These developments come amid continued tension around the Strait of Hormuz, which is witnessing increasing disruption to navigation, amid warnings of an expanding confrontation and its impact on regional security and global energy markets.
