UAE condemns Houthi attack on Saudi ship in Red Sea
The United Arab Emirates condemned in the strongest terms the attack carried out by the Houthi group on the vessel (ENCELIA) belonging to a Saudi company, while it was sailing in the Red Sea.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in an official statement that "this attack represents a serious threat to the safety and security of international navigation, and is a dangerous escalation aimed at undermining the security and stability of vital waterways in the world."
The Ministry called on the international community to ensure the implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 concerning the rights and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, affirming that "freedom of navigation in international waterways is a right guaranteed by international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982."
The Ministry expressed "the UAE's full solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its support for everything that preserves its security and stability."
