The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed today (Thursday) Kuwait's condemnation and strong denunciation of the attack launched by the Houthi militia on a Saudi ship while it was sailing in the Red Sea.
In a statement, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the Houthi attack constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and a direct threat to the security and freedom of maritime navigation, the safety of international trade, and energy supplies. It declared Kuwait's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, standing by its side, and supporting all measures it takes to preserve its sovereignty and protect its security and interests, stressing Kuwait's rejection of any practices that could undermine the region's security and stability.
The ministry stressed the need for an immediate halt to these attacks and compliance with the rules of international law that guarantee freedom of navigation and safe passage in international waterways.
Separately, the European Union's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, warned the Houthis today (Thursday) of the danger of their threats to international navigation.
Kallas said: 'The Houthi group in Yemen must stop all activities that endanger international navigation and the lives of seafarers,' adding that the latest threats issued by the Houthis against navigation constitute a direct threat to stability in the region and represent a serious escalation.
A responsible source in the Saudi Transport General Authority announced that the ship ENCELIA, owned by a Saudi company, was targeted while sailing in the Red Sea, resulting in a fire in the front part of the ship, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
