Portuguese coach José Mourinho has succeeded in strengthening his technical staff at Real Madrid by bringing in exercise physiologist Sandro Carrico, who arrives from Portuguese club Benfica, where he spent 13 consecutive years since joining in 2013.

Portuguese newspaper "A Bola" reported that the contact from Real Madrid came recently, after Mourinho and fitness coach António Dias identified specific needs within the Royal team's squad, and having a trusted physiologist was at the top of those priorities, leading to talks with Benfica that resulted in the completion of the deal.

Real Madrid officially presented Carrico as a specialist in "Sports Science", making him an integral part of the technical staff that includes João Tralhão, his assistants Pedro Machado and Khadira, plus goalkeeper coach Nuno Santos, António Dias and his assistant António Bentos in physical preparation, and chief analyst Roberto Meriela.

Sports science is a multidisciplinary field that studies how the human body responds and adapts to physical exercise, aiming to improve athletic performance, prevent injuries, and enhance overall health through precise scientific analysis.

This signing reflects Mourinho's determination to build a comprehensive technical staff that combines experience and scientific specialization, as part of his ambitious project to return Real Madrid to the top of European football after a disappointing season.
