Barcelona has identified its primary alternative in case the deal to sign Julian Alvarez, Atletico Madrid's striker, fails during the current summer transfer window, as the Catalan administration seeks to strengthen the attacking line.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Uruguayan Darwin Nunez, Al Hilal's striker, is currently the most suitable option for Barcelona's management if the Alvarez deal, which remains the club's top priority despite Atletico Madrid's official refusal, falls through.

The newspaper explained that Al Hilal's management is open to Nunez's departure, confirming that the player has offers from Turkish clubs and others abroad, and that negotiations are going well at present, especially with coach Simone Inzaghi's desire to strengthen the squad with more than one deal in the upcoming period.

Nunez (26 years old) surprised football circles by returning to Al Hilal's training a few days ago, after the end of his rest period following the World Cup, despite the months of negotiations surrounding the mutual termination of his contract.

Nunez and his agents continue to closely monitor Barcelona's moves, as the Catalan club is looking for a new striker amid the uncertainty surrounding Ferran Torres' future and Paris Saint-Germain's interest in signing him.

Nunez is considered a 'low-cost' option for Barcelona, given the possibility of signing him at a cheap price, after he joined Al Hilal's preparatory camp in Austria last Friday, awaiting the resolution of his fate.

The future of the Uruguayan striker with Al Hilal remains unclear, especially since he has not played any official match since February 16 last, after being excluded from the list of foreign players in the Saudi league and local cups to make room for Karim Benzema's registration, with his participation limited to the AFC Champions League.

His continuation remains doubtful, as the same technical staff led by Simone Inzaghi, who made the decision to exclude him, remains in place, opening the door for a possible return to Europe via Barcelona.
