A positive draw with a score of 1-1 imposed itself on the match between Turkish side Başakşehir and their Finnish guests Inter Turku on Wednesday at Fatih Terim Stadium in Istanbul, in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League second qualifying round.
Başakşehir imposed their control on the game, but the Finnish team managed to open the scoring in the 16th minute through Nigerian Clinton Jeftha, with a right-footed shot from inside the penalty area after a well-organized attack.
Sierra Leonean Elie Konté nearly doubled the lead for the visitors just three minutes later when he rose to a cross from a corner kick taken by Jan Běka Lyne, heading it towards goal, but goalkeeper Muhammed Şengezer managed to clear it at the last moment.
After that, the hosts missed many easy chances to equalize thanks to the brilliance of the Finnish team's goalkeeper, and the post denied Uzbek Eldor Shomurodov's shot in the 33rd minute, ending the first half with the visitors leading 1-0.
In the second half, Başakşehir managed to equalize in the 54th minute through center-back Ozan Bayram, with a header from a corner kick taken by Yusuf Sarı from the right side, bringing the match back to the starting point.
The following minutes saw no change in the result, postponing the decision on the qualification ticket for the third round of the competition to the return leg in Finland on July 30, which will be hosted by Inter Turku.
The winner of this tie will face the winner of the match between Vaduz of Liechtenstein and Atletic Club d'Escaldes of Andorra in the third round.
