(CNN)-- The Egyptian Football Association announced on Thursday that the Pharaohs' delegation will leave the American city of Atlanta and return to Cairo, after the end of the team's journey in the 2026 World Cup.

The Egyptian Federation clarified that the delegation's trip departs at 11 pm Thursday (Cairo time) and will last more than 12 hours.

The Egyptian Cabinet said in a statement issued on Wednesday that "Egyptian fans are waiting for (the arrival of) the players, to celebrate together the (World Cup) achievement, this performance, this dedication, and to express appreciation to the players for their efforts amid many challenges in this biggest and most-watched tournament in the world."

The Pharaohs had reached the Round of 16 in the World Cup for the first time in their history of participation in the tournament.

Mohamed Salah's teammates beat New Zealand and Australia, drew with Iran and Belgium, and lost to the defending champion, Argentina.
