German club Hamburger SV announced their first signing to bolster the attack, acquiring Zambian striker Patson Daka on a free transfer after his contract with English side Leicester City ended.

After Daka (27) passed the medical examination in Hamburg, the Zambian international joined the team's current training camp in Austria.

Kathleen Krüger, Hamburg's sporting director, said: 'He shows a high level of commitment, both with and without the ball, and constantly dedicates himself to the team as a collective player. At the same time, he has extensive international experience.'

Daka joined Leicester City from Austrian side Salzburg in 2021 for around 30 million euros. During his time with Leicester, the team was relegated twice from the English Premier League; they were also relegated from the Championship this year.

Hamburg hopes Daka can compensate for the departures of their strikers: Robert Glatzel, who moved to Wolfsburg, Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer, who moved to Mainz, and Damion Downs, who moved to Southampton.

Hamburg is still looking for at least one more striker in preparation for the new season.
