Spaniard Rodri, Manchester City midfielder, has forcefully re-entered Real Madrid's radar during the summer transfer window, after his exclusion from the royal club's plans seemed almost certain earlier.

Journalist Roda, of ESPN, reported that Real Madrid's management now views Rodri as a genuine option to bolster the midfield, noting that the club's managing director, José Ángel Sánchez, along with chief scout, Juni Calafat, are leading the move to sign the player.

He added that the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, is cautious about the deal, due to his fears of Rodri suffering new injuries, but his influence on transfer market decisions this summer is less than usual.

Roda pointed out that 'Pérez previously rejected the idea of signing Portuguese Bernardo Silva last May, but the deal went through. He also learned of the Marc Cucurella deal after it was already agreed upon.'

He highlighted that the Spanish national team star, winner of the Best Player award at the 2026 World Cup, is preparing to undergo a minor surgery due to back pain, confirming that the injury is not serious.
