Sports Analyst: Al-Nassr's Signing of Duran a 'Mistake'.. The Club Needed Midfielders
Sports analyst Salah Tambakti confirmed that Al-Nassr's signing of Colombian striker John Duran was not the right choice for the team, despite acknowledging the player's technical abilities, pointing out that the club needed to strengthen the midfield more than signing a new striker.
Tambakti said, during an intervention on 'Al Arabiya FM' radio, that Duran is a distinctive player, but the idea of signing him was wrong, noting that Al-Nassr paid a large amount to sign him, while he will be a substitute for Cristiano Ronaldo, which reduces his chances of playing regularly. He added that Al-Nassr needed pivot players, or an attacking player who can play in more than one position, instead of signing a pure striker.
He pointed out that the presence of Ronaldo, along with Joao Felix and Sadio Mane, makes it difficult to involve Duran consistently, considering that the most appropriate solution is to loan the player or sell him to benefit from him, adding that he would be a strong addition to Al-Ittihad if they succeed in signing him, asserting that he is technically superior to Youssef El Nasiri and is more compatible with the team's playing style.
Tambakti also criticized the signing mechanism in clubs, considering that some teams have made deals that exceed their actual needs, before starting to reduce the number of players, emphasizing that proper planning requires gradual signings according to real technical needs.
