Google announced a new visual identity for its office app suite G Suite, renaming it to Google Workspace.

Among the full G Suite apps, Gmail, Docs, Meet, Sheets, and Calendar received a redesign from icon to interfaces. They were also enhanced with features to work together seamlessly.

Google also adjusted its pricing by adding a new plan called Business Plus, which offers more device management features for businesses.

Among the new features, a chat window can turn into a new document shared by all participants without opening a new browser tab.

In Google Docs, during collaborative work, users can start a video call from any part of the document, and all active users can talk to each other, providing better communication than text chat.

Another small but useful feature is that Workspace apps will allow users to view a snippet of documents inline within any other document they are working on.

There is also the smart chips feature, which can be likened to a small contact card that pops up when mentioning any person in the document.

These are some of the many new features Google has launched in its office app suite, aiming to compete with Microsoft Office apps. We note Google's strong reliance on service integration, along with infrastructure improvements to handle the heavy load, which is a key focus in the competition.
